Transition to Carroll County Government Paid Staffing

February 27, 2025

Thursday February 27th marked a significant moment for both the Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department and Carroll County. It is the final day that our department-employed personnel will be on duty. Since the mid 1990s Lineboro VFD has staffed paid personnel to assist in responding to emergencies and keeping our community safe. Starting tomorrow, Carroll County Government will take on this responsibility, joining 12 other stations in the county with County-Sponsored paid staffing to support our dedicated volunteers.

It’s important to emphasize that our volunteers remain active and continue to be the backbone of emergency response in our community. The three paid personnel positions at Lineboro will maintain 24/7/365 coverage, consisting of a Paramedic, an EMT (Ambulance Driver), and a FADO (Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator). This structure mirrors the staffing model we have relied on for multiple decades. Volunteers and paid staff will continue working side by side to provide the highest level of service to those in need.

Now more than ever, we rely on your support through fundraising and community events. While staffing is transitioning, we remain responsible for responding to incidents, purchasing and maintaining apparatus, and improving our facilities.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all of our past employees for their dedication and service.

Thank you for your continued support!
